Looking for a UserGems Alternative? Job Changes vs Activity Signals

UserGems and MultiFollow both show up when you search for Linkedin sales signals. They do not do the same job.

UserGems is an enterprise signal and outbound platform built around your CRM: job changes (champions who move, new buyers who land), plus a much wider signal set and AI orchestration. MultiFollow is a named watchlist: you paste Linkedin and X (Twitter) profile URLs you already care about, and you get anonymous near-real-time alerts when those accounts post, comment, or (on Linkedin people) like — delivered by email, Slack, or API webhooks into Clay, n8n, Zapier, or your CRM.

We build MultiFollow, so you should know that up front. This is not a "rip out UserGems" post. If job-change pipeline from your existing customer and champion base is the motion, UserGems (or a Champify-class specialist) is shaped for that. If you already have a shortlist and need infrastructure that pings #signals-outbound the second Elena comments on a competitor thread, MultiFollow is the layer for that. They overlap on "Linkedin has something to do with buying intent." Everything else is a different product.

MultiFollow real-time sales signal feed

The job you actually hired the tool for

Most teams land on this comparison after one of two Tuesdays.

Tuesday A (relationship / job-change). Priya's closed-won champion, Elena, left Northline last month. Nobody noticed until Elena's new company RFP'd a competitor. The team wants CRM-native detection when past buyers, product users, and champions change employers, then warm sequences and tasks already sitting in Salesforce or HubSpot. That is UserGems' historic core — and still the reason most buyers open a UserGems tab.

Tuesday B (activity / reply-first). Maya already knows Elena is the VP on the Northline deal this quarter. The problem is not that Elena moved jobs. The problem is that Elena's 2:04pm Linkedin comment — "We're looking at replacing our WMS before Q4" — never left the Linkedin UI while the thread was still empty of vendors. That is MultiFollow's job: instrument a list you already chose.

If you confuse those Tuesdays, you buy the wrong shape. A job-change platform will not give you a seconds-level webhook of a named person's comments. A watchlist will not scan your CRM for employment changes.

A 60-second glossary

UserGems (usergems.com) positions itself as an "AI command center for outbound and ABM." Per their public site (September 2026), it consolidates 30+ native signals — job changes, contact-level intent, website visits, M&A, hiring, and more — with custom AI scoring, Gem-E agents for list building / writing / research, and orchestration into CRM, sales engagement, and ad platforms. Job-change / champion tracking is the origin story and still the clearest "why buy" story; the product around it is much broader than alerts alone.

MultiFollow is anonymous real-time tracking of Linkedin and X account activity as sales signals. You paste profile URLs (or CSV-import on Business+). Tracking does not follow or connect; they are never notified.

A sales signal here means a public event that suggests someone may be ready to talk. A job change is one kind. A comment on a competitor pricing thread is another. MultiFollow tracks what named accounts say and react to on Linkedin and X. It does not track employment changes, follower counts, or funding rounds as first-class events.

Named watchlist vs CRM relationship graph. A watchlist starts with URLs you already chose. A job-change platform starts with contacts already in your CRM (and often expands from there). UserGems is CRM-graph-first. MultiFollow is watchlist-only.

A webhook. A URL that receives a POST when something happens. On MultiFollow Business+, each tracker can send JSON (platform, profile URL, timestamp, link, post/comment text, activity type) to Slack, Clay, n8n, Zapier, Make, or a CRM. Email works on every plan.

What UserGems is good at

Strip the slogans and UserGems is roughly four things, based on their public homepage and pricing page:

Pricing (verify on usergems.com/pricing): as of September 2026 their published self-serve-looking tiers are roughly Core $3,333/mo ($40k/year), Advanced $6,250/mo ($75k/year), Elite $12,500/mo ($150k/year), each with a one-time implementation fee ($3k / $5k / $10k) and an ROI / money-back framing tied to closed-won revenue. Enterprise is "contact us." Older third-party roundups still quote earlier sticker prices — treat the live pricing page as source of truth.

Pick UserGems when the bottleneck is "who in our relationship graph just became a warm opportunity, and what should sales + marketing do next," not "ping Slack the second this known VP comments."

What MultiFollow is (and is not)

MultiFollow does one unglamorous job well: watch accounts you name, anonymously, and push activity out of the Linkedin / X UI.

What we track

Target Activity
Linkedin person Posts, comments, likes
Linkedin company / showcase Posts only (not company comments or likes)
X (Twitter) person or company Posts + replies. Not likes (private since 2024)

What we do not track: job changes, follower counts, engagement-audience scraping (who liked an arbitrary viral post), Facebook / Instagram / TikTok / YouTube, built-in enrichment or intent scoring, native HubSpot / Salesforce apps, InMail, Boolean people search, or TeamLink. We do not discover net-new prospects from an ICP description. We do not draft or send outreach. We do not scan your CRM for employment changes.

Filters: up to 10 include and 10 exclude keywords per tracker (each 2–200 characters). Keywords apply to posts and comments, not likes (likes have no text).

Delivery: email on every plan. Slack + API webhooks on Business and above, including per-tracker Slack/webhook URLs so prospects and competitors do not land in the same Clay table.

Freshness: paid plans are near real-time (typically seconds after detection, up to about a minute if congested). Free is best-effort.

Plans (multifollow.io, September 2026; prorated)

Plan Price Linkedin + X trackers Delivery extras
Free $0 1 + 2 Email; best-effort
Essential $19/mo 5 + 10 Near real-time; email only
Business $79/mo 25 + 50 Slack, API webhooks, REST API, MCP, bulk CSV, team
Enterprise $199/mo 100 + 200 Same + advanced support
Agency Custom Multi-client Custom

Competitor features and prices as published on UserGems' site in September 2026; always re-check before you buy. Older blog tables often disagree with the live pricing page.

Those products overlap on "Linkedin can tell us someone is worth a conversation." They do not overlap on job-change detection, CRM orchestration, X reply firehoses, or anonymous seconds-level watchlist webhooks.

Four Tuesday afternoons

Named people below are fictional. The timings are the point.

1. Elena changes jobs. That is a UserGems Tuesday

Elena Voss left Northline Logistics for Harborline Retail as VP of Operations. She is a past closed-won champion in Maya's Salesforce.

On UserGems: Elena's move is exactly the motion — detect the change, score the relationship, create / update the CRM record, queue Gem-E or a sequence so Maya reaches out while Elena still has budget and no stack yet.

On MultiFollow: useless for the job change itself. We never read employment fields. Unless someone already pasted Elena's profile URL for activity tracking, MultiFollow will not invent the move. Do not buy MultiFollow hoping it replaces UserGems or Champify.

2. Elena comments on a competitor at 2:04pm. You already know Elena

Elena is already on Maya's Q3 account list. At 2:04pm she comments on Dockwise's pricing post:

"We're looking at replacing our WMS before Q4. The receiving module is the deal-breaker. Anyone actually happy with theirs after go-live?"

If the team only runs UserGems: Elena may already be scored from job-change or intent history. What you may not get — unless you have also built a watchlist-style pipe elsewhere — is a shared Slack ping at 2:04pm with the comment text while the thread is still empty of vendors. UserGems' strength is relationship + orchestration; it is not marketed as MultiFollow-style anonymous per-profile activity webhooks.

If Maya's team is on MultiFollow Business: Elena's Linkedin person URL is a tracker (posts, comments, likes). At 2:04pm #signals-outbound shows the comment text and link. Maya replies on the thread at 2:11pm, then sends a short InMail that quotes Elena's own sentence. MultiFollow did not write the InMail. It made the sentence visible in time.

3. Dockwise posts pricing, a teardown, and a hiring blast the same day

Competitor company page posts at 9:10am, 1:40pm, and 5:55pm.

On MultiFollow, a company-page tracker covers posts only. Each post can still fire its own email/Slack/webhook. Include keywords like pricing, receiving, hiring keep the culture fluff out.

UserGems may treat competitor / hiring / intent signals inside a scored account workflow — different output (prioritized plays in the CRM) than a raw post feed into #battles-dockwise.

4. Elena replies on X at 9:41pm

"honestly drowning in Excel for yard management. if your WMS vendor says 'we do yards' ask them to show the Saturday shift, not the demo."

MultiFollow tracks X posts and replies (not likes). Add Elena's X URL with include keywords WMS, yard, Excel, replacing. The reply can be in Slack at 9:41pm.

UserGems is not a substitute for that X reply firehose. If late-night X replies on named people are part of your motion, you need a watchlist tool (or accept missing them).

When to pick UserGems, MultiFollow, Champify, or both

Pick UserGems when:

Pick MultiFollow when:

Pick Champify (or similar) instead of MultiFollow when:

Pick both UserGems and MultiFollow when:

Pick neither (alone) when:

Complementary setup we would actually run

Fictional team: Maya (AE), Tom (SDR), Priya (RevOps). Warehouse software.

Step 1. Let UserGems (or Champify) own the relationship graph

Connect Salesforce / HubSpot. Let job-change and related signals create / update leads for past champions and new buyers. Keep Gem-E or your SEP sequences there — MultiFollow will not replace that layer.

Step 2. Promote only "in-play" people into MultiFollow

Do not paste 30,000 CRM contacts into MultiFollow. Paste the 25 people Tom and Maya will actually work this month — Linkedin person URLs, plus X URLs when the prospect is loud there, plus Dockwise / Northline company pages if competitor and account posts matter.

Step 3. Turn on the right activity types

Step 4. Keyword filters so Slack stays readable

On Elena trackers include: WMS, warehouse, receiving, yard, labor, RFP, looking for, replace, pricing. Exclude: webinar, podcast, congrats, happy to announce.

Keywords do not filter likes. Plan for that.

Step 5. Delivery like infrastructure

Paid refresh is near real-time. Do not pilot reply-first selling on Free and conclude "signals are slow."

Step 6. Act with the right tool

The Slack/Clay row is not the outreach. Maya still comments publicly, sends InMail from Sales Navigator or email from the sequencer, and — if UserGems queued a job-change play — runs that play separately from the comment alert. MultiFollow never replaces the send button. Agents can maintain the MultiFollow watchlist via MCP on Business+; MCP does not stream the signals.

What we do not claim in this comparison

Saying this clearly is more useful than a feature grid.

If your motion is "past champions just changed companies," start with UserGems or Champify. If your motion is "here are the 25 people in play — ping us when they speak," that is MultiFollow.

Frequently asked questions

Is MultiFollow a full UserGems alternative?

No. Only for the narrow slice where both care about Linkedin-related buying timing. MultiFollow does not detect job changes, score CRM contacts, or orchestrate outbound/ABM. If those are why you opened UserGems, we are the wrong replacement. If you opened UserGems and realized you mostly needed a webhook feed of a known list's posts and comments, we are the closer fit for that slice — and you may still want a job-change tool alongside us.

Does MultiFollow track job changes like UserGems?

No. We track what accounts do on Linkedin and X: posts, comments, and likes (with the platform limits above). Employment changes are out of scope.

Will people know I am tracking them on MultiFollow?

No. We do not follow, connect, or message them. They are not notified. That is different from following someone on Linkedin from your company account.

Can I use UserGems and MultiFollow together?

Yes. A common stack: UserGems (or Champify) for job-change / relationship plays; MultiFollow for near-real-time watchlist alerts on the shortlist; Clay / n8n / Zapier for enrichment and routing. Both can feed the same ops layer without fighting each other.

Which MultiFollow plan do I need?

Pilot on Free ($0, 1 Linkedin + 2 X, best-effort email). Solo near-real-time email: Essential ($19, 5 + 10). Team Slack, Clay/n8n webhooks, CSV bulk import, API, MCP, shared access: Business ($79, 25 + 50) or Enterprise ($199, 100 + 200). Plans are prorated.

Do you draft outreach like Gem-E?

No. We deliver the activity event. Your AE, sequencer, UserGems, or Clay/AI column writes the message.

Where do signals go?

Email on every plan. Slack and API webhooks on Business+. Per-tracker destinations are supported so one account can split prospects vs competitors. See also our posts on Slack notifications and API webhooks.

Bottom line

UserGems is a CRM-connected signal and outbound command center: job changes, broad intent, scoring, Gem-E orchestration. MultiFollow is anonymous watchlist infrastructure: paste URLs, get Linkedin + X activity into email/Slack/webhooks while the conversation is still live.

Choose UserGems (or Champify) when relationship moves are the pipeline. Choose MultiFollow when you already know the accounts and need reply-first delivery. Use both when job-change plays and activity instrumentation are both real jobs on the same team — they usually are.

If the watchlist half fits, create a free account at dash.multifollow.io, add one high-value Linkedin profile, and wait until they post or comment. No credit card on Free. When the email lands and the motion is real, move to Essential or Business and point Slack or Clay at the same trackers.
